How to Study NCERT for UPSC
- Start from Class 6 and go till Class 12 – don’t skip early classes; basics matter.
- Make notes while reading – highlight important dates, events, definitions, and diagrams.
- Focus on diagrams and maps – especially in geography and history.
- Revise multiple times – at least 2–3 revisions before prelims.
- Solve questions – at the end of chapters and previous year questions.
- Link NCERT with current events – for example, link geography concepts to climate change news.
- Use as base, not end – once confident, proceed to advanced books like Laxmikanth for polity, Bipin Chandra for history, etc.
