Art and Culture is one of the most scoring and strategically important areas of the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Despite being a static portion of the syllabus, it plays a decisive role in Prelims, contributes meaningfully to Mains GS-I, and enhances answers in the Essay and Interview stages.

Importance in UPSC Prelims

Art and Culture has a very high weightage in the Preliminary Examination. Every year, 5–10 questions are asked directly or indirectly from this section.
