How to Use Editorials Effectively
- Select only relevant ones — focus on topics aligned with the UPSC syllabus (governance, economy, environment, social issues, international affairs).
- Make smart notes — don’t copy verbatim; note key issue, pros/cons, suggestions, data, and possible questions.
- Tag them with GS papers/topics — e.g. this editorial is useful for GS II, or for “environment / climate policy.”
- Regular reading — make it a habit, even if you can’t read all newspapers, pick one or two good ones.
- Discuss and debate — discuss with peers or mentors to enrich viewpoints.
- Revise periodically — editorial insights can “fade” if not revised.
- Use for writing practice — frame questions based on editorials and write answers.
