Distribution

  • Found in saltwater & brackish wetlands.
  • Range: East coast of India → Southeast Asia → Sundaic region → N. Australia → Micronesia.

Features

  • Male: ~5 m, ~500 kg.
  • Female: <3 m, <100 kg.
  • Coloration: Dark greenish-brown with lighter underbelly → camouflage.
  • Skin: Thick, armored scales for protection.
  • Behavior: Solitary, territorial (males control large areas).
