A new species of Burrowing snake Trachischium lalemsangai

It is a new species of burrowing snake which was discovered in Marlene National Park, Mizoram.

It is found in the Myanmar region where there are lots of forest, in other words it is a forest rich biodiversity.

Mostly snakes are found in the thick forest with a dense forest cover which makes it a favourable condition for them.

Its name has been originated from Dr. lalremsanga who is known for his remarkable contributions to the study of reptiles and amphibians in India.

His immense contributions in the field of amphibians and reptiles has been considered by the indian government.

Features of the snake

the snake is having a smooth scale which is very distinct from the other snakes.

The snake is having a brown body which makes it easy for hiding in the land area and it is having white colour in the downside of its body.

It also has a unique arrangement of head scales which makes it different from others.

About Mullen National Park

It is situated in Champai district of Mizoram in India, near the border of Myanmar.

It lies in MIzo hills, which is part of Patkai range.

It has subtropical type of climate.

It has heavy rainfall from june to october and winters from November to March.

Vegetation in this area has tropical semi evergreen , submontane because of the presence of mountains, bamboo grassland and also has cliff vegetation.

This region has lot of medicinal plants which makes it unique and it also has different varieties of flowers.

this is possible because of its unique climate and unique characteristics.

This area has lots of rhodndrons unique flowering trees which covers the entire area or forest, and which makes it good for scenic view.

There are lots of animals also found in this area also as Himalayan black bear, Endangered Hoolock Gibbon.

All animals are also found in this area along with them.

A bird is also found in this region such as Hume pheasant and the Khalij pheasant.

The state bird of Mizoram is Hume’s Pheasant because of its unique habitation.

So these are the charctestics of the Trachischium Fuscum whic is non poisonous and harmless to humans it only eats worms and insects in the soil and on leaves.
